ORDERVILLE GULCH RAPPELL
Orderville
Gulch is a major tributary to the world famous Zion Narrows. This primitive
canyon is surrounded on three sides by Zion Ponderosa Ranch and on a
fourth by Zion Nation Park. Guests of Zion Ponderosa can choose an unforgettable
experience as they rappel down a 125 foot waterfall into Orderville
Gulch. East Zion Adventure staff will accompany guests and provide all
equipment, instructions, and belay support necessary to make the rappel
safe and enjoyable.
Following the rappel, guests will continue their trek with a 10 mile
hike into the Zion Narrows through Orderville Canyon. Orderville Canyon
is a beautiful slot canyon formed by millions of years of erosion by
a tributary of the Virgin River. Hikers spend the majority of their
hike walking through a small stream that runs the course of the canyon.
At several locations in the Canyon, the stream forms small pools and
waterfalls. Hikers must use their ingenuity to swim, forge, or circumvent
these obstacles. During the last two miles of the hike, Orderville Canyon
joins the main Zion Canyon Narrows Hike, which is formed by the North
Fork of the Virgin River. Guests are met by a shuttle van at the Temple
of Sinawava parking lot, in the heart of Zion National Park, as they
finish their day long rappelling and hiking adventure.
